ARRIVING BY AIR:

Malta's national airline is Air Malta, founded in 1973. Airmalta flights are denoted by the prefix KM. Air Malta's schedule now serves around 50 destinations in Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and the Gulf, including 14 flights a week to Heathrow and 13 to Gatwick in the United Kingdom.Other airlines serving Malta include Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Swissair, Alitalia, GB Airways (a subsidiary of British Airways), United Airlines, CONDOR, Egyptair, and Gulf Air. In addition there are good connections with US transatlantic flights and flights to Cairo, Tel Aviv, Dubai, Damascus Monastir and Tunis.

The only airport is Malta International Airport (MLA), situated in Luqa, 5km (3 miles) southeast of Valletta, approximately a 15 minutes drive away. Buses depart regularly to and from Valletta City Gate. There is a full taxi service to all parts of Malta from the airport, with fares regulated by meter. Airport facilities include incoming and outgoing duty-free shops, car hire, bank, bureau de change (24 hours), left luggage and small shops, and a restaurant and bar.

It is convenient to pick up and drop rented cars at the airport.

The international airport also hosts the prestigious Ewropa Executive Lounge, allowing Club Class passengers time to relax in comfort, tie up last minute deals or catch up with the latest news from around the world.

Malta Air Charter operates a daily schedule of helicopter airlink from Malta to Gozo. This is a year-round operation between Malta International Airport and Xewkija Heliport in Gozo. The duration of the flight between the two islands is only 15 minutes

ARRIVING BY SEA:

The main ports are Grand Harbour, Marsaxlokk and Mgarr/Gozo. The Gozo Channel Company operates a service between Malta and Catania (Sicily) from April to September. Daily ferries connect Malta with Libya. There are links at Catania with Tripoli and Benghazi.

A high-speed (45 knots) catamaran service operates between Malta and Sicily twice a week. The service operates to several Sicilian ports.
