The South of the island, especially Marsaxlokk and Birzebbuga are known as
fishing villages in Malta. This can be attested by the number of fish restaurants
in these locations. While fishing is the means of living of a number of Maltese,
many enjoy fishing as a past time. In addition, visitors come from all over the
world to enjoy the excellent fishing conditions. One can easily purchase
fishing equipment in the numerous pet shops that abound on the island, while for
the more adventurous, they can try their hand at fishing off rented boats or even
night fishing using the 'lampara'. |
